At Streatham & Clapham High School, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of our alumnae who excel in various fields.
A pioneering mathematician, Philippa Fawcett made history in 1890 as the first woman to achieve the highest score in the Cambridge Mathematical Tripos examinations. Awarded the prestigious Marion Kennedy scholarship at Cambridge, she conducted important research in fluid dynamics. Fawcett later served as a college lecturer in Mathematics at Newham College, Cambridge. Coming from a lineage of trailblazers, she was the daughter of suffragist Millicent Fawcett and the niece of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, the first British female doctor, embodying a legacy of academic and social advancement.
These inspiring stories reflect the diverse paths our alumnae have taken since their time at SCHS. As they navigate their careers, they continue to uplift and support one another, reinforcing the strong bonds formed during their school years.
If you are an alumna with a story to share, we would love to hear from you! Your experiences can inspire others and contribute to the vibrant community we cherish at Streatham & Clapham High School.
