At Streatham & Clapham High School, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of our alumnae who excel in various fields.
Dame Beryl Paston Brown was an esteemed academic and educator whose legacy continues at Streatham & Clapham High School, where one of the school houses is named in her honour. After excelling at Newham College, Cambridge, where she earned Firsts in both parts of the English Tripos, she became Principal of Homerton College. There, she established a degree course for teachers. Appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 1968, she was the first teacher-trainer to receive this honour.
These inspiring stories reflect the diverse paths our alumnae have taken since their time at SCHS. As they navigate their careers, they continue to uplift and support one another, reinforcing the strong bonds formed during their school years.
If you are an alumna with a story to share, we would love to hear from you! Your experiences can inspire others and contribute to the vibrant community we cherish at Streatham & Clapham High School.
